Minister Bo Xilai Met Greek Foreign Minister Theodora Bakoyannis

On May 11, Minister of Commerce Bo Xilai met visiting Greek Foreign Minister Theodora Bakoyannis and exchanged views on strengthening bilateral trade and economic relations and other issues.
Minister Bo Xilai stated that the Sino-Greek have been developing smoothly over recent years. In 2006, the Sino-Greek trade volume reached 2.28 bn USD, and the two countries have continuously expanded communication and cooperation in shipping, telecommunication, tourism and many other fields. Last year, China and Greece established comprehensive strategic partnership, which would boost all-round reciprocal cooperation between the two countries in a better and faster way. Greece is a shipping giant, and China is also competitive in shipbuilding, dock and harbor construction fields, which provides the two countries with good opportunities to cooperate and realize mutual development together in shipbuilding and shipping industry. Both China and Greece have great development potentials for trade and tourism.
Greek Foreign Minister Theodora Bakoyannis expressed her appreciation on the development of the Greece-China trade and economic relations. She said that Greece has attached great importance to its trade and economic ties with China, and that Greece would like to develop a comprehensive and broad cooperation with China. Greece has advanced agricultural technology and various agricultural produce, and it hopes to enter the Chinese market and meet the demands from Chinese consumers. She further stated that China and Greece should strengthen and deepen cooperation in both shipbuilding and shipping industries, which would bring great profit to both countries.
