Chinese Language Programs
(Starting in November 2009 until May 2010)
The BCI at the Athens University of Economics and Business announces the beginning of courses in Chinese Language. Courses will start on 1st November 2009.
Programs: There will be offered three levels of Chinese language courses:
A Level
Learning Outcomes:
For A level, capable of simple spoken Chinese communication, writing Chinese
characters and simple reading.
Content: Introduction to basic Chinese: way of writing, pronunciation system, sentence structure and 400 Chinese characters.
Teaching Method: By lectures, plus means of multi-media, class discussion
Teaching Hours
Total: 96 hours
Timetable: 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday and Thursday
Textbook: Standard Textbooks from Hanban, China
Certificate: A level certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course.
B Level
Learning Outcomes:
For B level, capable of daily Spoken Chinese, simple composing and reading Chinese short articles.
Content: Introduction to advanced sentence structure, complements, 500 Chinese characters
Teaching Method: By lectures, multi-media, class discussion
Teaching Hours
Total: 96 hours
Timetable: 1:00-5:00 pm on Wednesday
Textbook: Standard Textbooks from Hanban, China
Certificate: B level certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course.
C Level
Learning Outcomes:
For C level, capable of free and fluent Spoken Chinese communication, more comprehensive writings and fast reading in Chinese, equivalent to Beginning level of HSK.
Content: Introduction to more advanced sentence structure and about 700 Chinese characters as well as Chinese folk customs, places for sightseeing, cultural events.
Teaching Method: By lectures, multi-media and class discussion
Teaching Hours
Total: 96 hours
Timetable: 3:00-7:00 pm on Saturday
Textbook: Standard Textbooks from Hanban, China
Certificate: C level certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course.
Size of Class: Each with 15-30 students only
Course Length: From Nov. 1, 2009 to May 31, 2010

Tuition Fee: For AUEB students and employees: 300 Euros
For students from other universities: 350 Euros
For company employees: 375 Euros
Note: For the second consecutive program, 10% reduction is granted.

Business Chinese Language Programs

The BCI at the Athens University of Economics and Business announces that now accepts Applications for courses in Business Chinese Language. Class’s size will be limited to 15 and 20 students.
Programs:
Spoken Business Chinese
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, students will be
Capable of oral Chinese communication in business environment,
Competent for working with Chinese Language in Chinese companies.
Content:
Command of business vocabulary, technical terms and expressions,
Business introduction,
Chinese language issues necessary in business meetings,
Phone communication.
Teaching Method:
By lectures, multi-media, class discussion and role playing.
Teaching Hours
Total: 96
Timetable: 6:00-9:00 pm on Tuesday and Friday.
Textbook: Standard Textbooks recommended from Hanban, China
Certificate: Spoken Business Chinese Certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course.
Business Chinese Negotiation
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, students will be
Capable of oral Chinese negotiation in a business procedures,
Competent for working in Chinese companies.
Content:
Whole procedures in business negotiation, for example, talks on enquiry, price, payment, shipment… insurance, claims and so on.
Teaching Method:
By lectures, multi-media and class discussion and role playing.

Timetable: 6:00-9:00 pm on Monday and Thursday

Certificate: Business Chinese Negotiation Certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course
Business Chinese Writing
Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of the course, students will be
Capable of Standard format for Chinese writing about business events,
Competent for working in Chinese companies.
Content:
Writings for business introduction, offers and bids, correspondence, advertising,
Meeting events, …, and business speeches.
Teaching Method:
By lectures, multi-media and class discussion, homework.
Teaching Hours
Total: 48 hours
Timetable: 6:00-9:00 pm on Wednesday

Certificate: Business Chinese Writing Certificate issued by BCI upon successful completion of course
Size of Class: Each with 15-20 students only
Course Length: From December 2009 to May 2010
