Greek President Karolos Papoulias, Chinese Ambassador to Greece Luo Linquan, NOCFL Ma Jian Fei, deputy director of Foreign Trade and Economic University, Party Secretary Wang Ling, Athens University business Ge Gao Li, the Greek-China Friendship Association Chairman Potamianos, Confucius Institute in the Greek side, as well as the Greek community on behalf of more than 400 guests attended the event.
President Papoulias said he was pleased to visit China in June last year, during Chinese President Hu Jintao witnessed the signing ceremony for the establishment of Confucius Institute, and today attended the opening ceremony in Athens. I believe the Confucius Institute will be settled in Greece, the Greek people in-depth understanding of Chinese culture, deepen the friendship between the two peoples to play an important role.
ambassador,uo Linquan in his speech pointed out that the Confucius Institute is the second start-up in 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the "Greek Culture" successfully held in China and Greece after the successful exchange of visits between heads of state, China and Greece set up another one between the peoples of friendship bridge between the two civilizations, once again shortened the distance from the heart.
After the opening ceremony, the two university teachers and students presented a colorful cultural performance. Unique characteristics of the Greek folk dancing to the teachers and students visiting from China left a deep impression. University teachers and students of foreign trade, compared with on-site guests staged a set of martial arts, calligraphy and painting, ethnic dance, acrobatics in the whole repertoire, won the audience waves of warm applause and cheers.
